1. JOB SUMMARY

The CPU Quality Supervisor is responsible for maintaining, enforcing, and monitoring quality standards at Mambo Coffee Company Limited’s Coffee Collection Centers. This role oversees the inspection, grading, cherry reception, pulping, fermentation, washing, drying, and storage of coffee berries to ensure strict compliance with premium export and internal quality metrics. The position serves as a key bridge between smallholder coffee farmers, collection center operations, and corporate quality control.

  1. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

2.1 Coffee Cherry Intake Inspection & Grading: Oversee the visual and physical inspection of incoming red coffee cherries delivered by farmers, ensuring strict adherence to maturity standards (accepting fully ripe cherries while rejecting green, overripe, or diseased berries).

2.2 Moisture & Quality Parameter Monitoring: Conduct regular tests for moisture content, screen size, defect counts, and density throughout all stages of processing (pulping, drying, and temporary parchment storage) utilizing calibrated moisture meters and sampling toolkits.

2.3 Supervision of Wet Mill & Processing Operations: Monitor and guide the wet-processing steps—including de-pulping, fermentation times, channel washing, and grading—to prevent defect formation such as over-fermentation, sour beans, or skin damage.

2.4 Drying Bed & Storage Quality Control: Direct the sun-drying process on raised African beds, enforcing proper turn frequencies, parchment depth management, weather protection (covering during rain/midday heat), and strict hygiene to prevent mold development.

2.5 Traceability & Batch Documentation: Maintain accurate daily quality records and batch tracking logs for all received and processed coffee, documenting moisture levels, cherry grades, weight receipts, and origin lots for full supply chain traceability.

2.6 Farmer Advisory & Quality Feedback: Provide direct feedback and technical guidance to coffee growers at the intake point regarding harvesting best practices, cherry sorting techniques, and post-harvest handling to continuously elevate raw cherry quality.

2.7 Equipment Calibration & Maintenance Support: Ensure all CPU testing equipment (scales, moisture meters, density buckets, grading screens) and processing machinery are clean, properly calibrated, and maintained in optimal operational condition.

2.8 Compliance with Safety, Hygiene & Sanitation Standards: Enforce strict workplace safety, environmental regulations, and sanitary standards across all processing beds, fermentation tanks, and storage facilities to prevent coffee contamination.

2.9 Dispatch & Transport Quality Assurance: Inspect, sample, and approve outgoing parchment coffee prior to bagging and dispatching to the main curing mill or warehouse, ensuring secure packaging, accurate labeling, and optimal transit moisture content.

2.10 Reporting & Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Prepare daily and weekly quality control reports for the Quality Assurance Manager and Operations team, actively highlighting yield efficiency, defect trends, processing challenges, and recommendations for operational enhancement.
